San Isidro is a privileged district where parks and green spaces are concerned. The El Olivar Forest alone contributed over 10 hectares of green and trees. The Lima Golf Club, with the 413.017,44 square meters of its golf course, add another important expansion of green, which makes San Isidro the district with the highest percentage of green spaces per resident in the city. This large quantity of green spaces isn’t just an attribute or a privilege; it constitutes, in turn, a serious responsibility San Isidro has with the rest of the city. A responsibility we have assumed with great diligence and care.
Numerous parks distributed throughout the 5 sectors of the district offer residents and visitors extensive areas for leisure and recreation, as well as fundamental points of oxygenation for the city. Nothing is currently more important, in the management of large, contemporary cities, than the defense of the quality of air and, consequently, the health of its inhabitants. It is because of this that a green element is fundamental in the defense of the environment. San Isidro can be considered, in this aspect, a model district and an example to be followed in the efforts for ecological preservation.
And it’s not just the abundance of trees and plants that build up the value of a park, but also its design, its adequacy to its environment and care constitute important aspects of its execution and maintenance.
Being, as it is, a district of good-sized residences, many of them contain an external or internal garden which adds to the total of green spaces in San Isidro.
The roadsides and centers of its main arteries, turned into boulevards and gardens, also contribute to the embellishment of the city. An example of this are the Javier Prado, Arequipa, Salaverry and Coronel Portillo avenues, among others.
The parks in San Isidro are one its main attractions and, as such, have a great importance in the minds of its residents and authorities. They receive a careful, specialized maintenance, which allows an adequate growth and a long life for its trees and makes it possible that the gardens get covered in seasonal flowers throughout the year.
In many of its parks, alluring sculptures, modern or traditional in style, become part of the landscape, be it by honoring some illustrious personage of our history or simply expressing the artistic activity of its authors. Much of the life of the district unfolds in the parks of San Isidro, which are visited by adults and children looking for places of solace, leisure and relaxation. For this reason, cleanliness, embellishment and safety are prime concerns in our parks, features that can be observed in each one of them, contributing to make the life of our residents more stimulating and pleasant.
